After thermal desorption and pyrolysis carbonization, the low-carbon components of oily sludge are recycled, while the high-carbon components are transferred to a high calorie fuel. Pre-treatment can be applied to different sources and forms of oily sludge for contaminant reduction, oil recycling and stable effective treatment.
Abundant dangerous waste (HW08) – It is the oily sludge which is produced in oilfield exploration, production, transportation and refining, which needs proper treatment. A stable and viscous emulsion system from suspended solids and colloidal particles is difficult to treat. During oily sludge dehydration and carbonization, most of the oil and water components are separated by indirect heating of thermal desorption. The oil components partially become micromolecule components by pyrolysis, that are separated from solids. The resultant solids can be transformed into a high-calorie fuel. The volatile components are recycled and condensed, ready to provide heat for the whole system and the flue gas is released after appropriate treatment.
The technique can be used for any forms of oily sludge treatment. It can be used for oil recycling, water reinjection and safe discharge. The oil concentration in the solid residuals is lower than 0.3% and can be used for high-calorie fuels.
